Ironbuilt Infrastructure is executing a significant infrastructure project in Wallsend, focusing on the enhancement of the Leachate Collection System (LCS).

The project scope involves complex upgrades to improve stormwater and leachate management, ensuring environmental compliance and enhanced system efficiency. This project addresses the critical needs of the Wallsend community, contributing to improved waste management systems and environmental sustainability. Ironbuilt Infrastructure were contacted to be the Principal Contractors on the project and complete the following:

Our scope included:

  • Demolition of existing stormwater and leachate pipework and pits
  • Cut and fill operations to prepare ground conditions
  • Sub-grade preparation for new leachate pits and pipework installations
  • Supply and installation of advanced leachate pipework systems
  • Construction of a reinforced cast in situ concrete pit
  • Installation of pre-cast pits, fittings, and pumps
  • Execution of both temporary and permanent electrical works
  • Backfilling and compaction of 21,300m³ of material across two excavation areas
  • Comprehensive commissioning and quality assurance processes
